Ashley Emma

My earliest roots stem along McCowan Road. The houses I grew up in, the school I went to, the places my family frequented. Growing up in Scarborough meant cultural diversity, fields of power lines, and bare dim sum, patties and samosas.

Most of my extended family were also spread across the east end — multigenerational homes dotting either side of McCowan and continuing as it turned into Danforth Avenue. Some have moved away and some have moved in (surprisingly, cousins from Sauga). Although I now live elsewhere, the sense of community and civic pride I feel about Scarborough remains with me for life.
